Migration of Action Settings

In Webwasher 5.x, a Web interface page was provided called Action Settings. It was located under General. On this page, you could configure values that were used by several or even all actions. Global values that may be used by several or all actions no longer exist in Webwasher 6.0.

There is only one exception, i. e. the notification recipients. These can still be used globally and are configured now under Configuration > Action Editor > Notifications.

Instead of using global values like Delay or Mark Subject, you need to create actions now, using the Action Editor under Configuration > Action Editor and configure the desired values directly.

In the following, you are told what to configure in Webwasher 6.0 instead of the old settings:

  • Notify Sender Options → These options were used to specify the parts of an original message that were included in a notification. The Notify action parameter could be used to refer to a value specified by the %include variable. This variable no longer exists. So, during the upgrade to Webwasher 6.0, all actions where the Notify parameter referred to this variable were modified to use Header as default value instead. If you want to use other parameters, such as Nothing, Section or Attachments, you need to create your own actions, using the desired values instead of %include.
  • Notify Postmaster Options → These options were also used to specify the parts of an original message that were included in a notification. The action parameter Notify could be used to refer to a value specified by the %includePostmaster variable. This variable no longer exists. So, during the update to Webwasher 6.0, all actions where the Notify parameter referred to this variable were modified to use Header as default value instead. If you want to use other parameters, such as Nothing, Section or Attachments, you need to create your own actions, using the desired values instead of %includePostmaster.
  • Delay → This option was used to specify the delivery interval for delayed e-mails. The value specified for the interval could be referred to by the %delay variable in an action that used the Delay parameter. This variable no longer exists. There was no pre-configured action using the Delay parameter. If you created an action of your own, however, using this variable, please be aware that during the upgrade to Webwasher 6.0 the %delay variable was replaced by 20:00-08:00 as default value. This means that if you specified a non-default value for the delivery interval, you need to modify the Delay parameter in your own actions to refer to this value instead of the default one.
  • Mark Subject → This option was used to specify additional text that was inserted at the beginning of the subject line. The text was used by the Mark Subject action, which referred to this text by means of the %spammark variable. The Mark Subject action modifies the subject of e-mails that were identified as spam by prefixing a text to their subjects. The %spammark variable no longer exists. If you want to configure an action of your own that modifies the subject of an e-mail, create a copy of the pre-configured Mark Subject action, using the Action Editor. Then, give an appropriate value to the Subject-Prefix parameter in this action and specify the action when configuring actions for spam e-mails under Anti Spam > Spam Actions. If you have already configured actions of your own that used the Subject-Prefix parameter, please be aware that during the upgrade to Webwasher 6.0 the %spammark variable was replaced by [WW Spam: %lT] as default value. If you configured a different value for %spammark, you need to change this value in the Subject-Prefix parameter of your actions.
